OLD NEWS - Archives 1/31/99 So much for working at home! Today I attend orientation for the new job I got, an offer that was just too
good to pass up! It's amazing what a couple of certificates and a year and a half away from being a secretary will do for one's marketability as a geek! One week from now, I'll be starting my new
career as a Producer at Entertaindom.com. Once again I'll be
a member of the Time-Warner family, but this time I might actually rate a business card - hahaha! Funny how things sometimes come around full circle. It's going to be exciting to
be part of a team that's creating a multimedia entertainment extravaganza, employing all the newest technology. Who'd have thought a self-taught geek with little more than some networking certificates and a burning desire to be ANYTHING but a secretary would get so lucky? But there it is. The recruiter found my resume on the
Monster Board
and called me in to interview. I thought for sure I'd be disqualified in short order, since my web skills are self-acquired and the lion's share of the sites I've built are simply-structured adult sites. Apparently the combination of my administrative and computer skills were more than enough to qualify me, and I'm damned glad of it! Yippee! Now perhaps I can repair the financial damage I've done while trying to make it as a full-time internet geek. I'm not giving up my adult site-building career, but I certainly won't have the time I did previously to concentrate on doing that exclusively. With the week I have left at home, I'll be trying to wrap up whatever projects and sites I can, so I can focus on my new job without feeling guilty for leaving things unfinished.

Dicks 4 Chicks - A site for Women who like it Hard! I'm told it's the very first EVER free adult site for women. Apparently no one has
applied the free site model to a women's site before, which is rather amazing to me. But whatever... I just wanted to have a site that would appeal to ladies that wasn't a gay site or more of a
romantic flowery softcore site. The women's market for adult material is virtually untapped, and the adult industry is finally taking a look at what
women want without grouping us all together and painting us with a broad brush as having "tender sensibilities." There are as many fantasies as there are women, and we are a bit more complex than men,
who can be pretty well entertained by graphic depictions of sex and little else. That's not sexism, that's physiology! It's just the way they's made! Cat's in a relapse of the JDMS she's been in remission from for 2 years now. Over the past few weeks she's gotten increasingly weaker. She's having trouble climbing stairs, sitting up from a supine position, and gripping things with her hands. She's falling down a lot too. It's
heartbreaking to watch your child suffer, and know there's not much you can do outside of get her to the doctor, give her
steroids
and pray for the best. In the last round of investigating what information is available on the 'net, I found a site done by a man whose daughter is Cat's age and is going thru the hell that is this disease. He keeps a diary and relates her trials and triumphs. Take a look at

Well, enough for now... will write again when I have time. Meanwhile, enjoy life! 12/15/99 Working at home is almost a must these days, since the Crohn's
is once again acting up (of course it is, I went off steroids...shit), and unless I go all day without eating or drinking a single thing, it's
pretty important I be right next to a bathroom. I'm also without a car at the moment, since it became impossible to be sure I could make those hefty payments every month, so it's a good thing I don't
need it. My Credit Union
has been wonderful all this time, and at least they're attempting to sell it to cover my note instead of just being dicks and repossessing it. At least I don't have it hanging over my head every month anymore, and I'm sure I'll get a little piece of crap to drive when I can. Meanwhile, it's smut-peddling and being a rogue geek to pay the bills (or come damned close anyway!).
I spent 4 days in Las Vegas for AdultDex '99 and met so many wonderful people at the convention, including a new Girlfriend
who's every bit the Wild Woman I am! This Lady is the essence of Woman in all her feral, passionate Goddess glory; that's what made me her fan before I met her, and a soul sister now that I've spent a little time with her. If you're close to my age and/or a porn fan, Vanessa will be familiar. If you're not, you have no idea what you've missed!
9/9/99 - Stacey wrote a review of the show, and Marsha posted an audience-eye-view and a few pictures
of us waiting in line like the unpaid extras we were being treated as. We weren't allowed to take pics during the concert itself (live event and all that - goddamned TV Nazis). It was fun to see them live, but I'd have liked a chance to actually meet them, seeing it was such a small audience, all things considered. Oh well... The food, provided by
Outback Steakhouse, was good anyway! Oh yeah, and we got a bunch of promotional odds & ends like t-shirts and sunglasses and whatnot. It was a
publicist's dream-come-true. If I were running the thing, though, I'd have made SURE there was at least one sponsor/vendor who could have supplied something other than beer
(yecch!). I forced myself to drink a few, however :-) 9/3/99
- My good friend, Stacey called me a few weeks ago to invite us up to Oxnard for Labor Day. Apparently she submitted the maximum number of entries for every member of her family into a contest on
VH-1, "Backyard BBQ
with the Goo Goo Dolls." Imagine his surprise when they called to congratulate her brother Brian on his win! You can bet I'll be taking lots of pics, and I'll post ASAP! If

24-hour offer of FREE top-level domain name registration on Sunday, 8/22. I found out about it at 10pm on Saturday, and typed my fingers off til 10:30pm Sunday. In all I
registered over a thousand domains - nice little chunk of real estate in cyberspace! I got some excellent names, and am anxious to complete what's necessary so when everything is in
place I can start offloading them. I'm sure there are people out there with dark.desires

The opportunity to get in on the ground-floor of something with such huge potential is quite exciting,
and doesn't come around often, so I'm glad to have participated. Thanks to Robin at TLDNS, and

Just finished a week of NT Core Tech lectures. One week of
labs, and then I'm taking the exams. I'll have my CNA and MCP...now all I need is a J-O-B! Wish I'd have finished my 80's thang, but there's time... And now, back to studying... 7/16/99- In 10 days I return to school to finish my NT classes and get my MCP, so I'll be spending
all my free time with my nose in the books between now and then just to have a jump start on it. I'm not too worried about keeping up or passing tests, but I like to have a grasp on the concepts up
front. I've played with NT a bit, and already have my CNA, so how hard can it be?Probably won't get back to updating until after 8/22 when classes end, and I'm in front of the box
trying to get a job. Before I go back to school, though, I'm hoping to finish a new section of the Vardo dedicated to the Days of My Misspent Youth. Ah, the 80s...when I was still a hot young
headbanger chick! It's been fun reminiscing as I go thru all my photos and whatnot from those days.
The Vardo's getting a full-scale revamp. It needs to be simpler, more navigable and streamlined. I'll
be dorking around with some of the existing pages and adding some new ones. Please bear with me, and let me know if any of the links aren't working! |
