29 June 2001: After 22 years, I traveled 3000 miles back to my home state of Connecticut to
finally meet my hero and SMF King, Dee Snider. It was worth every minute! He couldn't believe I'd come all that way just to see him :-) Not only was he gracious enough to autograph a few things for me and pose for
a few photos, but he mentioned me by name on the air, saying I'd come all the way from Los Angeles. Hell, I'd travel around the world for the pleasure of his company.Since he had to leave right after the
show in order to catch a plane to Germany for vacation, Dee asked everyone to come up during the breaks so he could meet people and sign autographs. Unlike many other celebrities, he took a few moments to actually converse
with his fans. When I went up the first time, after thanking me profusely for traveling so far and being such a dedicated and Dee-voted fan, he mentioned a post he'd made on the SMF Slamboard that some people doubted was really made by him.This day was right up there with my wedding day
and the birth of my daughter - one of the best of my life! Dee's everything I'd hoped, and I look forward to one day having another chance to engage him in a conversation when neither of us is in a hurry. Who
knows? Maybe one day I'll have a radio show of my own, and he'll be a guest! He's certainly an inspiration... Special thanks to Sean the Intern at Radio 104 for hooking me up... Enjoy the pics! |
